MS NIEUW AMSTERDAM

MS Nieuw Amsterdam is a Signature class cruise ship for Holland America Line. Nieuw Amsterdam is the 81st ship to enter Holland America's service and the second largest Holland America ship to date.

The ship was christened by Princess Maxima of the Netherlands in Venice, Italy on July 4, 2010 before embarking on its maiden voyage from Venice on July 5, 2010.

New features on Nieuw Amsterdam include a Pan-Asian restaurant, an African-theme to the Explorer's Lounge, an Italian specialty restaurant and a redesigned atrium and show lounge. Ten cabins have floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows.  Eighty-six percent of the cabins are on the outside, and 67 percent have balconies. It also has dynamic positioning abilities, and is powered by six diesel generators and propelled by Azipod propulsion technology.

This MS Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship model features:

- Scratch built

- Superior hollow hull construction (very important), weighing less than 10 lbs  (A solid hull of this model would be over 30 lbs which feels like a heavy toy rather than an art piece.)

- Hollow superstructure is comprised of many individual thin pieces of wood glued together, not several solid pieces of wood stacking on top one another.

- Windows are cutouts (not black decals), thanks to the hollow structures.

-  No computer-printed paper deck

- >95% of parts are wood and metal

48" long x 14" tall x 7" wide (including base's dimensions.)  This is a custom order and we accept your commission to build a similar ship or any cruise ship models.  Please click on "COMMISSIONING" button on the left hand side column for more information.
