Why
ModelShipMaster.com?
1/ Accuracy: A model
needs to have a correct hull to begin with. To make
a correct hull of a ship, an artisan must have the
support of a revered research team. Our knowledge
is so immense that even when you can't take photos of
the parts under the waterline, your model will
mostly still have
a correct important hull features. That is the reason we show our models' hulls while others
don't. While many neglect the unique curves of a
ship's hull, even ignoring the important bulbous bow
(Google 'SS Rex model' and you will see), we care a great deal about
it.
Another important aspect about accuracy is the scale
of the parts and their locations. We see that some
retailers who constantly advertise 'museum quality',
'incredible details" neglect these aspects too much.
For an example, you can Google 'Boston Whaler yacht
model.'
We are the only merchant in the U.S.
that can build and repair model ships on-site. This means that
our headquarters has the technical capacity
to check the work of our
artisans to ensure accuracy. Because of this quality control, only the very best and honest
craftsmen can join ModelShipMaster team. This link
tells a story of how our quality control benefits

2/ Honesty:
We post
large photos.
For some model makers, it's much easier for them to
say "museum quality" than to prove it. Most of their
photos are so small that even professionals like us
have a hard time to really see.
If you are new to
model ships, insist on seeing photos that are at
least 6" wide on your computer screen and zooming in
small sections of the model in order to show if the
paint is smooth, if the windows are clean cuts,
uniform and aligned, among other things. The photos
must cover all angles of the model, especially the
hull (the most difficult to make correctly) and its
underwater parts such as the propeller and rudder.
In this digital age, a simple cell phone can give
massive photos, and that would make the smart think posting small photos is in fact intentional.
By the way, try not to view an item of high value on
a smart phone -- too small for your eyes.
We have a repair facility in California and we have
come in contact with quite a few models that looked
quite good from afar but accuracy and craftsmanship
had a lot of room for improvement.
We focus on quality,
and thus abstained ourselves from tricky advertising
words such as 'free shipping", "museum quality",
"any", "easy". Shipping cost is not cheap,
averaging $150 for a medium model in the U.S., and
can't be free. "Museum quality"? A museum in a rural
area in a poor country is still called a museum.
When you see someone stresses on this phrase, or
says "visit the Pentagon, the White House...", don't
assume it's true. Ask for proof of models (names and
photos) built for major museums (that
ModelShipMaster has done business with) such as the
Smithsonian, Museum of Science and Industry,
National Museum of the
American Sailor, Mariners' Museum and Park,
Maritime Museum of San
Diego, the United States Naval War College. These
institutions are in the business of showcasing
precious and educational objects. Their picky
curators are knowledgeable and we don't believe any
other commercial builder can send a model to their
prestigious buildings. Showcasing a ship model to
millions of people from all over the world is not an
unworried decision.
3/
Artistry: We
produce works of art. Your models will look grand, alive,
and project characters. They are not 'dead' like a
plastic toy nor a simple decorative accessory. For
example, many of our warships' guns can be manually
rotated so that they can be turned to a certain
direction to maximize naval power effect per your
linking. The airplane on your carriers are arranged
in combat positions. Yachts' and cruise ships' swimming pools have
simulated water.
When you look at the choice of wood
(for yachts) and the tiny details, you will see our
hearts in your model. Our artistic mind does not
stop at there. It extends to the base, with an
analogy of a beautiful frame to house a magnificent
painting. We add a real wood inlay to most base; we
shorten the pedestals when your model is small
(Google 'Boston Whaler yacht model' and you will see
a pair of unproportional pedestals from another
maker.) These little actions do not come easy and
cheap but what we care most is your proud display
that will win the hearts of your loved ones and
friends.
4/ Rareness and
potential heirloom: When you acquire our models, you
can rest assured that there are not many of them out
there at all. The vast majority of our 'best seller'
models haven't exceed 10 units.
We
urge you to spend several hours to do research
before making a decision to acquire a model ship. The model will stay with your family for a
long time. It can be an eye magnet for many years to
come or a 'dead' decorative accessory in just a few
short months. One becomes a treasured heirloom while
the other ends up in a garage sale by your children.
Although our model ships are the best
out there by a wide margin, we understand that no
model is perfect, and we welcome your feedback. If
you have great knowledge about any ships, please click
here to let us
know or for a reward. Thank you.
