CHRIS CRAFT BARREL
BACK
In 1939, Chris-Craft designed a new hull called the
barrel back. The previous models' lines of modest,
slab-sided, and flat-decked utilities are replaced by
the streamlined barrel backs. Radical tumblehome and
torpedo bows made the barrel backs the most collectable
boats of all times.
The iconic custom runabout was produced
from 1939 to 1942,
with a total of 433 hulls. They represented the highest
level of craftsmanship Chris Craft ever offered because
it required skilled craftsmen to produce the full half
circle transom shape.
This
1:8 scale
barrel back model accurately represents one of the
most highly desirable of the famed Chris-Crafts.
It
features:
-
Plank-on-frame
construction
-
Heartwood Honduras Mahogany
-
Made of real individual planks, not vinyl on cheap
wood below the surface as numerous models that are
priced under $1,000 all over the Internet.
- Precisely duplicates the real boat's elegantly
curved hull and wealth of detailing.
