ECLIPSE yacht
Scenic
Eclipse is a six-star, ultra-luxury mega yacht owned
by Australian river cruise operator Scenic. The
massive 551-foot (168-meter) megayacht will travel
to 68 ports around the world and Antarctica and the
Arctic, offering an unprecedented combination of
exploration gear and fine luxury.
The yacht was delivered in August 2019. She ship
embarked on her maiden voyage from Reykjavík to
Quebec in August 2019, followed by discovery voyages
to the Americas, Antarctica, Europe and the
Mediterranean, as well as the Arctic and Norwegian
Fjords.
Accommodation:
There are 114 gigantic suites,
with 176 crew for an almost ideal 1:1 ratio. Every suite
comes with its own private veranda and personal butler,
with the owner’s penthouse suite (at $10,000-a night and
2,659 square feet / 247 square meters of living space)
including its own private spa and separate sleeping
area.
Technology:
Scenic
Eclipse is the world’s safest and most technologically
advanced discovery yacht. It features
custom-built stabilizers that are 50% larger than other
ships.
State-of-the-art fins that can adjust themselves enable
the ship to handle the strongest water movements and to
remain stable, even at zero speeds.
The yacht
has an ice-strengthened hull. It is designed for an Ice Class 1A Super rating that
enables it to navigate through Arctic and Antarctic
waters in the summer. It also has the Polar Class 6
rating, the highest passenger ship ice-class rating, to
navigate in challenging seas safely.
Unlike other vessels that use traditional anchors,
Scenic Eclipse is fitted with a dynamic positioning
system that uses GPS to accurately maintain the vessel’s
position, which is also an eco-friendly way to control
the ship.
The vessel also features other environmentally
sustainable systems, including advanced water treatment
systems and efficient low-impact engines.
Entertainment:
The yacht
offers in-air, underwater, and shore excursions to
guests. It features two six-seater, twin-engine
helicopters, one seven-seater submarine and 12 zodiacs
and kayaks onboard. Excursions will take guests to
inaccessible places by flying low over the dramatic
crags of the Scottish Isles, the volcanic wonders of
Italy or the coral cays of the Caribbean.
The submarine Scenic Neptune is custom-built for optimal sightseeing to
rarely visited places such as the underwater ruins in
Greece and Turkey, as well as kaleidoscopic coral reefs
in the Caribbean. The sub can go as deep as 1,000 feet
(93 meters.) Through scuba diving, guests can
experience a variety of underwater wildlife and colorful coral reefs.
Guests can also enjoy shore excursions on zodiacs and
kayaks in the Arctic and Mediterranean seas. A unique
mudroom enables guests to embark and disembark for their
excursions quickly and easily.
Amenities:
Everything
on board this megayacht is meant for luxurious
indulgence. There are 10 different thematic restaurants.
There are also eight bars, with one of them with a wall
made of 110 bottles of whiskey – from which you can
serve a taste or two.
Other amenities include separate spa suites offering
several types of spa treatments (specialist experience
showers, light therapy, steam sauna, cold dips,
you-name-it), massages, Pilates and Yoga, and individual
workouts in a dedicated gym. A hair salon is just what
you need ahead of a more formal engagement, so one is
available as well.
