CORNELIA MARIE
deadliest catch boat
The Cornelia Marie is a fish carrier that
was built in 1989
in Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
She is 128' long and 28' wide.
Her current home port
is Kodiak, Alaska. The Cornelia Marie fishes for King,
and snow crab, and also salmon and herring tendering.
From 2004 and until his death in 2010,
Captain Phil Harris and the Cornelia Marie were followed
by an embedded film crew for the series Deadliest Catch.
Over the course of the first decade of the show,
Cornelia Marie was one of the most beloved fishing
vessels on Deadliest Catch.
After
Phil Harris died in 2010 from
a stroke, his sons, Josh and Jake Harris, took over the
boat. Josh eventually bought the boat with his business
partner, Captain Casey McManus.
Following his guilty plea for a 1998 sexual assault case
involving a minor, Discovery Channel and Deadliest Catch
have severed ties with Josh an his Cornelia Marie.
A Deadliest Catch special titled Casey And The New
Cornelia Marie premiered on April 11, 2020 showcased
the upgrades what Captain Casey McManus, and boat-owner
and Captain Josh Harris did during the 2019 offseason to
the Cornelia Marie. The upgrades included an updated
wheelhouse with new radar systems, renovations to the
state rooms, new rudder controls, and changes to the
propellers to make her faster.
