SS BREMEN ocean liner model

In the hearts of many, SS Bremen was the most significant ocean liner. She was the first liner who broken two records on her first two voyages. Her maiden voyage also marked the first time mail was carried by a ship-launched plane for delivery before the ship's arrival.

The German ship Bremen was notable for her low streamlined profile and a modern approach to her design. The  Bremen sparked the building of the large and very expensive express liners of the 1930s. SS Bremen was the first liner who broken two records on her first two voyages, westbound and eastbound.

SS Bremen was a German built ocean liner. At the time of her construction, she and her sister ship the SS Europa were the two most advanced, high speed steam turbine ocean liners of her day. The German pair sparked an international competition in the building of large, fast, luxurious ocean liners that were national symbols and points of prestige during the pre-war years of the 1930s.

On her maiden voyage, SS Bremen departed Bremerhaven for New York City on 16 July 1929.  She arrived four days, 17 hours, and 42 minutes later, capturing the westbound Blue Riband from the Mauretania with an average speed of 27.83 knots (51.54 km/h). This voyage also marked the first time mail was carried by a ship-launched plane for delivery before the ship's arrival. A Heinkel HE 12 was launched a few hours before arrival in New York with 11,000 pieces of mail in six mailbags weighing 220 pounds which it delivered to New York many hours before the ship docked at the North German-Lloyd pier in Brooklyn.

On her very next voyage back to Europe, Bremen took the eastbound Blue Riband with a time of 4 day 14 hours and 30 minutes and an average speed of 27.91 knots (51.69 km/h).

This primarily wood SS Bremen model has the following qualities:

- Plank-on-frame hull

- Windows and portholes are cutouts (not black decals), uniform, and on straight lines.

- Captivating lighting, with and green/red navigation light that will light up your special evenings. LED light powered by standard 9v battery for your convenience. A ship is not an ocean liner without beautiful lighting.
