TSS FAIRSTAR

On 19 May 1964 the FairStar started her maiden voyage to Sydney, Australia from Southampton with a full complement of passengers, mostly migrants.

TSS FairStar was used more and more for cruising over the following years. In November, 1974, she departed Southampton for her last liner voyage to start her permanent cruise ship in Australia in December 1974.  Most of the cruises were to the South Pacific, however she often made annual trips to Asia where the vessel would be dry-docked in Singapore for routine maintenance and upgrades.

This TSS Fairstar model  features:

- Scratch built

- Hollow-hull (very important), weighing less than 10 lbs  (A solid hull of this model would be over 40 lbs which feels like a heavy toy rather than an art piece.)

- Hollow superstructure is comprised of many individual thin pieces of wood glued together, not several solid pieces of wood stacking on top one another.

- Windows are cutouts (not black decals), thanks to the hollow structures.

-  No computer-printed paper deck

- >95% of parts are wood and metal

This 39" long was built for a private collector.   If you want a similar vessel, please email us at services@modelshipmaster.com.  Thank you.
