                                        SS LIBERTE model

After WW II, the Blue Riband winner SS Europa of Germany was transferred to France.  She was given $19 million refit and then renamed Liberte.  The SS Liberte made her maiden voyage to New York in 1950 and served for 11 years as the pride of France.

SS Liberté was featured prominently in the Jane Russell film The French Line. The Liberté also made an appearance in the 1954 classic film Sabrina, starring Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, in the final scenes of the film.

Like all of our ocean liner models, this SS Liberte model feature:

- Plank-on-frame, hollow hull construction (very important), weighing less than 10 lbs  (A solid hull of this model would be over 30 lbs which feels like a heavy toy rather than an art piece.)

- Hollow superstructure is comprised of many individual thin pieces of wood glued together, not several solid pieces of wood stacking on top one another.

- Windows are cutouts (not black decals), thanks to the hollow structures.

-  No computer-printed paper deck

- >95% of parts are wood and metal

38" long x 13" tall x 7" wide   Out of stock
