company based in North Carolina. The company develops
its Hatteras models in its shipyard which is over 280,000
square feet of fabrication space for its top-level naval
designers, architects, engineers, craftsman, carpenters.

60 years, Hatteras Yachts has been synonymous with the
strength and durability to survive the treacherous
waters of Cape Hatteras for which they were named.
Hatteras began when Hatteras founder, Willis Slane,
envisioned a new breed of fishing boat. One strong
enough to tame the waves off Cape Hatteras. That vision
gave birth to the Knit Wits--the first fiberglass yacht
over 40 feet which revolutionized the boatbuilding
industry. Ever since that initial breakthrough vessel,

Decks and house tops have always been balsa cored. If
you've ever noticed that Hatteras yachts are notably
quieter inside than most others, that's because of the
wonderful acoustic properties of balsa.
